Dr. David Cavender joined midwest eye center in March 2011. Previously he was a Managing Optometrist for LensCrafters. A 1990 graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry, he enjoys helping people see better everyday. Dr. Cavender sees patients in our Calumet City and Bourbonnais locations. When not at work he enjoys riding his bicycle.
Dr. Weisberg is an American Board of Ophthalmology certified ophthalmologist and a fellowship trained Cornea and Refractive surgeon. As an undergraduate, he attended Brown University graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. He then went on to obtain his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. Dr. Weisberg also completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Columbia University, training at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute. Following his ophthalmology residency, Dr. Weisberg pursued subspecialty training in Cornea, External disease, and Refractive surgery at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago.
Dr. Weisberg is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Association for Research and Vision. He currently has State Medical licensure in Illinois and previously in New York State.
Dr. Weisberg has been practicing at midwest eye center since 2010. In addition to seeing general ophthalmology patients, Dr Weisberg has specialty training in treating conditions that affect the cornea and external eye including corneal infections, contact lens problems, dry eye, corneal dystrophies, keratoconus, conjunctivitis (pink eye), pinguecula, pterygia, allergies, and blepharitis. Dr. Weisberg performs cataract surgery, full thickness and partial thickness corneal transplants, pterygium surgery, sutured lens implants, and laser vision correction including LASIK (laser in-situ keratomileusis) and PRK (photorefractive keratectomy).
Dr. Brenda Simons has been practicing Optometry for over 20 years with midwest eye center. Her areas of specialty include low vision examinations, and contact lens fitting. She utilizes the latest in contact lens technology, and is happy to fit patients with astigmatism, and those that need bifocal lenses. In addition to low vision and contact lens fitting, her practice includes general eye examination of all age groups.
